Non-bluetooth (uses USB instead) version of the ELM327 is readily available, and can be used with any windows laptop with the free software "Easy OBD2". Works on my 2005 4/4 (and my 2011 Galaxy FWIW!)

Hello All,

After doing some research on the internet and once I ruled out bluetooth devices for my iphone [:-/], I finally ordered a WIFI dongle through Amazon ("ELM327 WIFI Wireless OBD2 OBDII Car Auto Diagnostic Scanner Adapter Reader") which cost me £23,98. I downloaded an app called Dashcmd for £8 and Bingo cheers flag cheers All engine data is now available, mostly fuel consumption and efficiency, available torque, diagnosis tools and shifting points.

The only thing I'm trying to figure out now is how to use the dongle in conjunction with my GPS app (Waze), as wifi seems to automatically take over 3G, which cuts me from the network... any ideas on that topic are welcome ;-)

Cheers

Another IOA App that works well wth the ELM 327 is called EOBD Facile. It is free as a reader, but to do any re-setting you have to buy the upgrade for £10.00.

Clearing error lights and removing records from the memory.

I imagine that is because the phone OS is set to assume that if you have a wifi connection you are going to connect to the web using that. Non web data connection wifi apps must be few and far between.

Does the OBD2 provide speed and mileage data as well?
