Does anyone charge the battery via the 12V power socket? I would like to avoid having to lift the cowl every time.
Tks

Standard procedure in a 4 wheeler. I use the charger provided as an option by Morgan.

You could always use a "trickle" charger and route the cable that is attached to the battery, through the firewall and, discreetly under the dash. This will make it easily accessible for connecting to the cable/ plug on the charger without having to open the bonnet.

Thanks for this - I have not used a charger as my Morgan is used at least once per week - but did wonder whether to get one that sticks into the 12v socket under the dash - a darned sight easier than having to dismantle the rear end and have another set of wires trailing & getting in the way.

I also use a Banner but check that your socket is "live" when the ignition is switched off. On one of my previous Roadsters (I think that it was the '06) the socket/cigar lighter in the glove box was only live when the ignition was switched on. The charger had to be connected to the battery feed at the starter motor and to a bolt on the bulkhead to provide the earth.

I have an Optimate trickle charger , comes with a lead which permanantly connects to the battery and ends in a socket to connect to the charger itself. I have arranged this lead to end inside the cockpit. I have the charger screwed to the garage wall beside the car. If I am not using the car for a week or so I connect up and forget. Next time I want to use the car I simply undo the connector between the permanent lead and the charger and off I go.

It also comes with crocodile clips to connect to other batteries etc. I tend to use the car only once a week, after the first few weeks I noticed a dip in starter motor speed as it never got a chance to fully recharge. This sorted that out.
