Hi All.
I have an immobilizer/central locking unit installed in the Max; but I'm having a slight problem...
When I disarm the immobilizer [by a remote controller on my keychain] to get into the car, the driver's door window lowers about 0.5cm, clearing it from the window seal to enable the door to be opened without the glass snagging on the door seal.
The same, though, can't be said for the passenger side: the window does not lower at all, and the glass catches on the seal when trying to open the door from the outside. I have to lower the passenger side window from the inside [of the Max] so that it clears the seal.
Does anyone with a Max, Super Sports or Coupe have this problem? And if you do (or did), how did you fix it?

Sounds like a door closure sensor has packed up.

Lower left corner of the "door chassis", with the door opened, there is a black push button. When you open the doror, the button get "released" and give the "message" to the window to go down (*). Probably is oxidised. First try moving a little bit the screw, if not unscrew it and clean it with a spray circuit board cleaner, it should work. This should cover my poor English (*) I am referring to items 19 and 20

Sounds like a door closure sensor has packed up. It could be, or it might be the 'memory' function for the window closure system which operates independently on the driver's and passenger's side. My '09 Max seems to 'forget' the setting on one side or the other if I have not used it for a while - even if left on trickle charge. Dean Royal has posted on here before about the re-set sequence. I found a guide from a BMW web forum which had the same info, but I have this at my other house. From memory it goes something like this. Use window switch to put window fully open and HOLD DOWN switch for 5 secs+ (to unset) With door shut, close window which will auto-stop against seal and without releasing HOLD DOWN switch for further 5+ secs (to re-set) Hopefully this will work (or call a friendly BMW dealer - it is their system MMC use) Good luck

Process outline by Stuart should work, it happens to all of them from time to time.
Bit like all of us forget what we're supposed to do.
Well that's what the wife tells me.

To me it always happens after a lot of rain, and the only solution was to play with the switch Reset procedure (I have it within my favorites): http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/132722/Dean_Royal#Post132722

Reset the windows as described by Twotribes with the exception count to 10 on the down hold and 10 on the up hold, I am required to do this every time I have activated the engine isolator switch

I have had this small gap at the top of the driver door window since I bought the Aero (series 3) .... bit annoying as with the hood up I get a very annoying whistle at certain speeds. Just followed twotribes instructions with Dean-Royal 10 second count and bingo, problem solved ... Door window right up when the door closed. Thanks chaps ........... Pete

Good luck Thanks for that. I'll give that a go and see what happens. I'll report back on this thread with the results.
