Don't know but as the centre wheel rides down the middle of the lane where all the crap collects this is definitely an issue. Perhaps a RFT is the answer but with no on-board px monitoring it will be a faff to check the px every time.

Great solution. I believe early M3W had different shocks.

They look like the Suplex ones to me with the internal bump stop.

How do you go about getting the rear wheel off? I am not far off needing a new rear tyre and don't fancy paring a dealer to do it, and would not trust a tyre center to do the job.

How do you go about getting the rear wheel off? I am not far off needing a new rear tyre and don't fancy paring a dealer to do it, and would not trust a tyre center to do the job. Quite simple. Jck back of car up until rear wheel _just_ about to lift off, so there's miniman load on the shoch mounts. Easiest way by far is to but a length of 2"x1" across the car in front of the rear wheel and pop a trolley jack under each end. Jack away and up she pops. Then release the two top shock mounts and then jack up until the swing arms and rear wheel appear under the rising car. Release wheel bolts and off she comes.

Ah yes, forgot about that. Probably on account of doing a 'similar' job last night as I fitted the new Spax Adjustable rear shocks, and whilst doing it saw how I'd take the wheel off, come the time. I should have said that the adjusters need loosening off first to move the wheel forward for belt removal, before other stuff!

The first time I removed the rear wheel I struggled to removed the notch on the brake backing plate was seized on the anti-rotation pin, it was welded across, plus the brake hose is too short, for reassembly I chamfered Machine with the end of the axle to be able to recover easily without being bothered by the strut bearings and ground the anti-rotation pin, I realized after the hose rear brake rubbing on the gearbox, it would be best fitted to the rear a hydrolic quick coupling goodrich (staubli) for disconnected without purged each time.

The directions in the handbook p.31 are pretty good for wheel removal...there isn't much slack in the brake pipe so don't Jack up too far... Other than that it's quite straightforward. The tricky bit is remounting it and that's either a 2 man job or use a hoist to take the weight of the wheel
