The normal view on computer or tv is without the data tracking, just like any other video. The data tracking you get only if you use that software and is stored in a separate data file to the video.
I just uploaded a screen capture video of the Datakam Player - Registrator Viewer software.
That's the view I expect to see when playing back on my TV but without the extra windows showing location and speed of vehicle. All I need is a time-code like a CCTV.
Here is just the (edited) video of the same day without data capture.
Published 28 June 2013 A few minutes of clips out of a run from Lake Como in Italy to Zernez in Switzerland. It includes part of the section above Chiavenna to the Swiss border, the lower part of Maloja Pass, some sections along the Engadine lakes, and then some parts of the road leading in to Zernez.
The car is a Morgan Plus 4 with the top down and the sidescreens off.
I have not touched the sound and the camera has picked up a fair bit of wind noise as well as the MP3s playing on the car stereo.
Chris I will see if I can photograph it in place today or tommorrow. The camera has a SD (32gb) card in and yes you just take that out and play it back via PC or TV

But check this one out: I stumbled across it quite by accident while surfing the net. It's called the "Mini DVR 0801" and is the smallest dash cam I've seen! There's also a video made by an independent tester: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdPHXv8Hzj8.
Check it out. It's quite interesting. That's the closest to what I'm looking for so far - small and unobtrusive, and reasonably priced. There are more expensive dash cams about; but they are also physically larger...

Looks good Chris. How much is it. Technology changes so fast that it is hard to keep up. I have included two photos of mine, one for size comparison with an iPhone and one in situ. The mount has four pivot points, so can be moved in any angle
It's about $105; but you may be able to get it for less if you shopped around. (And I was quite impressed with the video clip too...)
What I really liked about it is the way that it's hidden behind the rear view mirror and (almost) unnoticeable by the driver. Practically all of the other cameras I've seen are too big for the Max's low windscreen!
