DaveW's choice and mine are the same! In fact it was he who suggested that I look in that direction for the Mini DVR 0801 (Thanks, Dave..)

This looks good, and reasonable price. Another temptation then thumbs

Peter,

I was directing more at the customer reviews. There seems to be a fair bit of concern in the reviews on the quality of the camera and the ability to get ones money back or a repair organised.

Not sure if "made in China" and Amazon are a very good fit for customer satisfaction spend

Practically every dash cam I looked into was made in China. Very few are made in Korea, and none made anywhere else! I would of course prefer those made outside China (the EU, USA, Japan etc.) for reliability.

Chinese-made technology in engineering or electronics seems to be below par when compared with these other countries and build quality of their products remain questionable. confused2

The mini DVR 0801 I was talking about was the "best fit" to my requirements; but I will hang on a little longer and see whether another manufacturer (outside China) has produced a more reliable alternative. smile If not, then I might plump for the 0801 - it's cheap and cheerful, and not that expensive...

Despite all said and done, I still like its compact and discreet design ...!

PS: Read all the comments and reviews on the Amazon site regarding this device, and it's a mixed bag! While some would swear by it, others swear at it! laugh

Hi Dave

I'll wait a bit longer before deciding. (See my reply to Graeme above...) smile

Wow, I've just done some searching and all it seems to do is complicate matters. Unreliability as you say is rife............

So who has the answer to this I wonder.............

On my 2014 list is a Blackvue DR500GW have a look at their website at http://www.blackvue.eu/Blackvue_DR500G_HD_WIFI.php also have a look at the youtube review at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mwjf-XEXCYo If enough people were interested they would accommodate a group purchase.

I really don't know, Dave. I will have to keep my finger on the pulse for now.

I'm still in the market for a small, reliable dash cam like the 0801 (reliable being the operative word!).
