Wow,...Despite 30 years in the automotive industry working for a number of manufacturers including Ford, Honda, BMW and Jaguar Land Rover, I don't think I've ever seen such an extensive PDI form (certainly not in the past 2 decades). Looking at it actually made me feel quite sad...
90% of the content shouldn't be there. Things like checking bevel box noise, checking panel alignment etc really shouldn't be down to the dealer - they should be part of the factory sign-off against strict and clearly defined standards......there is no excuse for abdicating this to a dealer. The PDI should be about checking issues that could occur in transit such as damage, battery charge etc. not fundamental quality standards.
The form is very revealing and shows that Morgan have a very long way to go to change their mindset about quality and where the responsibility lies.
I love the company and I love the cars and I'm sure great progress has been made but the manufacturing and engineering quality standards leave much to be desired..the PDI form is a sad reflection of that.
The new management team have to radically overhaul the quality mindset...I truly wish them well, as like all of us I want Morgan to thrive and continue producing their eccentric, fantastic cars..
