I am in Gujarat this week. It is a dry state. My bar bill is zero. Flying back Emirates 1 st class using airmile to boost up a level. I hope they warned the Merry Widow of increased demand!

Pubs closing like flys up North , its another way of life no going with your mates to the pub for a laugh chat up the girls get refused. Then ease the sulk by trying to eat your mates fish and chips on the way home .Its sit in his home order a take away pizza a DVD + a case of beer ( its claims to be ) from the s/market and talk to each other in the room by texting while watching a sh*t film . God are they missing out even those toasted sandwiches thats tasted like fried dog no mater what was in , washed down with flat beer and while your mate put some crap pop music on the Juke Box you went to the loo . Only to return and find your glass empty.
Talking of loos thats where I met SWMBO the pub was so tiny and the loos next door to each other . A couple of people at a time you had to line up in the hall and wait your turn . Stood chatting and the rest is history 04-12-1976 . If only I had had a bigger bladder and a smaller mouth. Went back to it in 4-12th last year and its just for oldies who want food.

Went to the Rose and Crown in Burwash when we came for the Thrill on the Hill. I suspect it hasn't changed much for a good few years. You are right though John, not many youngsters. Great folk though. Even met a guy that went to the same school I did when my family had a farm for a while at nearby Hurst Green when I was about 10 (1956). We went back to Australia after that experience.
Went to visit the farm and it still had the same name (seems impossible but maybe even the same name board) that my parents gave it. I was able to explain to the current owner how it was made up from parts of two Australian place names.
