Agree it stars as a pain in the arse trying to get the templates right and yet as I was reinstalling the leather today I was jigsaw piecing offcuts together and lined the plywood panels on the back of the seats an the door liners. Quite addictive - hope it makes difference! Not as much as a bonnet and roof

i think an atom bomb could go off down the block from peter and he wouldn't hear it over his exhaust. Peter I've heard the exhausts on your car - do you think the soundproofing will make a big difference?

Don't tempt fate Blake  Those of you that have used sound proofing mat, would you think it would work as heat insulation as well? My Caterham has huge heat soak in the summer, and needs something like that in the footwells.

Paul - If you can line the transmission tunnel with Reflect-a-Cool it might help. Underneath would be better, but it would work to some extent inside the car.
Sourced from "Agriemach". I've used it extensively on my Roadster, and it controls heat sink well.
They also do woven blanket, but then you have to secure it somehow, but that is also excellent..

I've got the engine and gearbox out at the moment Dave, hence my wondering as it is a good opportunity to do that sort of job. Maybe I can use the blanket under the carpet over the tunnel as well?

Yes it's not too thick so should work well. I've used both products extensively on the Roadster and have had no problems whatsoever. You could also stick Relect-a-Cool over the tunnel on the inside, then have the matting over that.
The MGBV8 came with reflective foil stuck over the tunnel as standard, and although it's counter-intuitive seeing the silver facing away from the heat source, it did seem to help.
