Fit Osram Silverstars or Night Breaker H4 Halogens, should look a lot more Blue/white...  Graham, can that be done as a straight swap without upgrading to a seperate relay?

Same for me - I think we have the smaller units. Maybe the larger wing lights have two bolts? Click Here... for good quality (and cheap-ish) replacements (no link other than a satisfied customer).

Hi Graham, i have night breaker h4 halogens already, it must be the led bulbs being super bright white, just did not look right, the sidelights just upstaged the headlights, will try Osram Silverstars when i next need headlamps thanks john k Even on modern cars the DRLs appear whiter/ more blue than the headlights. Their purpose is to be very visible in daylight. I' m coming at it from the safety angle. The Morgan is a very small and low vehicle, in my book anything that can make it more visible ( apart, of course, from it's inherent spectacular good looks  ), makes it safer. That's why I also have a high level brake light. I just feel more comfortable  Neil.

Use double sided tape between the lamp and wing. Great idea Dave, Sounds better than glue. I guess it will not need much friction to stop the rotation.

When I checked my sidelights, the rear bolts were missing and I assumed they had fallen out. Perhaps they were not fitted at the factory. Since I replaced them and put longer bolts on the front ones, with a locking nut, the sidelights stay secure and do not move.
Neil Later lights have two bolts, the type in the picture only have the one with the cable down the centre. I'm sure that's what I've got so it's looking like a bit of double sided tape, suggested by Dave, may be best option. I just have to fix it, it's driving me nuts!........once I see it happening I just have to stop to adjust it........wait till I get home?.........no way! [ can't seem to find the icon for anally retentive.  ]

Well spotted Martin, its not a lucas1130 so Dave W's idea of double sided tape is probably the best solution.

Just took a look at the side light fixing on Aldermog (Summer 09 build):
The larger front and smaller rear bolts go up from under the wing into the light unit. The wire goes up through a third hole with a plastic sleve showing.
The light unit is well forward of the wing stay,there is a large "winged U" shaped plate bonded to the wing so that the stay bolts to that plate. There is a secondary wing stay further back near the little indicator repeator.
No way at all that the side light could move. A great improvement on mine by the look of it. But then again yours is a tad younger!

Assuming you already have a conversion to H4 bulbs, for example, Wipac Quad Optics, Lucas something or other or Cibie H180 (best headlamp reflectors around at present) then the power consumed by either of the Osram lamps is the same as your present bulbs (usually 60/55W main/dip). If you still have the sealed beam units (as my old '76 had before I changed them, and my 90 still does) then the power used by these is less. Had I kept my '76 I would have fitted extra relays to take the load away from the column switch, which will eventually succumb to the amount of current it passes. Which reminds me, I must write up the electrical mod for circa 70's cars to make things a little safer in the electrickery dept. Had I done it earlier it would have saved some escape of magic smoke on last year's Highland trek. Cheers,
