Today I've been to see my uncle on his 88th birthday and took him out for a ride , he loved it and said he was tempted to get one ! He had no trouble getting in and out which was impressive .

That is so cool that you did that.

My dad used to ride Harleys back in the '30s thru '50s. It was his only means of transpertation in the early years and then just kept riding.

I really wanted to take him for a ride about 6 years ago when they came down to visit us, but even though at 94 he was still driving around his town locally, his balance was not good and we decided not to get him on the bike. But I believe he would have loved it.

Let's keep the old folks happy!

Great topic Hugh. But more to the point, I can't help wondering who is the oldest current owner of a 5 speed M3W?

And Paul that'd be interesting to know too ...

Btw , my uncle is proud to say he was caught doing 86mph when he was 86 !

"he was caught doing 86mph when he was 86 !"

I just love that, it'll give me something to aspire to in another 20 years or so.....

Maybe something to work towards every 5 years or so after a 70th birthday?

I am told that the definition of "mixed emotions" is seeing your Mother in Law going over a cliff in your M3W.

Mine has never forgiven me for saying in my Grooms speech " the difference between a Mother in Law and an Outlaw is that Outlaws are wanted".

----I guess I'm feeling a little foolish about this post with all you "kids" out there. I will be 80 years old on May 31st of this year. Sigh! When I realized that pushing a dead BSA I didn't want to leave on the side of the road I realized it was time for a change, hence the M3W. Plus, as an old time "gear head" I've been having a ball working on the car, moving the peddle box, installing a fire extinguisher, first oil change and thus and such. You would think I should act more my "age" (some people have suggested this), but I'm having too much fun for that.
