After 35 years of bikes; then divorce. My new other half did not bond with being on the back of my motorbikes.

A "detour" on the way back to work with colleagues after a business meeting to Brands Hatch Morgan got me sorely tempted but my head ruled until we went on holiday to Cornwall. Where a handy signpost to Perranwell Morgan drew me in and a test drive secured my deposit.

The rest is history!

I used to have a Bond Bug that i rescued from the scrap yard as a student, one hell of a blast till the tipping point when you had to be quick! Always fancied a three wheeler with the wheels the right way round.

Still got some of the bikes; although with the M3W they are becoming more and more irrelevant and i'll probably concentrate on the 3W

I needed to get back in the HOV lane. (killer commute to work)

There seems to be a lot of talk about them,but have yet to see one on the road!

One word -FUN

When I saw it at Geneva I was totally bowled over with the concept, the design and the overall proposition...I put down my deposit within a couple of weeks before any road tests, based on gut instinct that it was going to be a crazy, bonkers fun car. So 90% emotion and 10% rational - the rational bit being I wanted a reliable, everyday usable, less precious alternative to a 30's MG J2.

It's taken a while to live up to that promise but the a fun bit has always been there, and it's fun that can be accessed without risking your licence....how many other cars make you grin from ear to ear whenever you take them out for a spin.

Like love, this is a totally irrational decision. I find the OP's question questionable, in that he is trying to use a rational, logical means to find out the answer to an irrational, illogical desire to own an absurdity!

This came up in my ongoing divorce trial, in that I was questioned on just why I would spend this money on this car at this time. I had to answer honestly, "Why not? Even with the miles I have spent driving it, the maintenance, the time, I can still sell it for 95% of what I paid for it but the time I spent driving it has been priceless!"

Why not?

And what did the judge say about that?

My own answer to Paul's question is probably the attraction of having to concentrate very hard at relatively low speeds. What is the point these days of a road car with over 400bhp and fat, grippy tyres?

It's a question of "wants" and "needs"...

All of you "wanted" one, but no one "needed" one!

Being a guy that love the obscure, I have had my share of odd motors with wheels attached, so far just 2 and 4 wheels. Although back in the "day" I raced snowmobiles and had way too many of those.



So it really isn't needs, but wants.

At one time I had 10 vehicles that I had to insure. That was with just the wife and I.

Interesting collection.

Some time back, I came across a web site featuring JZRs. I thought they looked amazing and I finally acquired a Guzzi powered version. I drove it, wrenched on it, cursed at it and had a thoroughly enjoyable time.
When Morgan came out with the new 5 speeder, myself along with most of my JZR cohorts, put it down as too expensive, too heavy and a flash in the pan.
After watching all that Utube footage, I finally realized that no amount of "fettling" would ever get the JZR on equal footing with the Morgan. Out came the wallet, in went the deposit and 18 months later, bingo!, here was a new Morgan in the drive. It also needs a it of fettling but I enjoy that sort of thing and it is a joy to drive!!

I had no idea they were out there. Poking around on Google, found an ACE. Looks like a Morgan I thought, contacted Pete Larsen. No longer building the ACE, he tells me about the M3W, which he is now a dealer for.
Contacted my local dealer, his first just came in. Went for a look, sat down in the seat ...
Got in the que that day, 04AUG12. It spoke to me ... still does.
