As others have said, find the best you can and buy it, you only come this way once. I'm taking early retirement in a couple of months with a house to renovate and a new large garage to build. Once finished there will be room for a Porsche, a 993 but I'm also drawn to a 968 which is a totally different animal. Whichever one it is I'm getting one before I'm too old to enjoy it.

David

I wish you all the best for your choice of Porsche. I don´t want to give a "lesson" just sharing my experiences. And sorry for the load of pics below, but I'm in the mood to share some.

I only tell you what I have done to "cure" (or better to say live with) my Porsche disease, which is a relatively new sickness.
But first on you. If your choice is a G-model Turbo - this engine to rebuild can easily cost 30% more than the total costs to purchase the two Porsches you see below. This are my first Porsches so I was very careful to chose them and meanwhile I know some serious California dealers.

I don´t know what is your personal goal, I personally would like to learn the brand character before I would chose such a special Turbo type. When we "talk Morgan" it is not a must that the first car has to be an Aero Supersports or something like that. We have so many members here who are happily enjoying their 4/4 and they have "a lot to say".

With this in mind my first Porsche I bought last May, a red Targa 1982 3.0 SC, all costs included (shipping transport insurance, tax and customs in Rotterdam) was 23.5 K Euro.

Second car is a first owner 2.7 911S from 1976 narrow body I payed 18.3K in total for all above mentioned on this one. Some say the magnesium engine cast is difficult but she has been always serviced, has additional Case Savers installed to make sure head studs are no problem going forward, she is a beauty. Downside, no original color (horizon blue from 964 model) but outstanding paint and compensated with 13K USD of invoices over the last three years (most of things without need of an urgent repair, a widows car).

I would start with a car like that ones mentioned above and I would not share it unless it is a brother.

The Porsches are just a hobby beside my job. But I´m very confident not losing any money at all when looking some years ahead. (The Porsches are only licenced from time to time).

Last Pic shows why I am on TM, my beloved teal Roadster (the Plus 4SS was a hot affair which lasts 23K km but she will go sooner or later this year).

Again good luck with your choice.

no idea why it shows no pics, may be it needs some time...

Pics not showing because each link has "~original" after the .jpg...

Try that: I can't see it because I'm at work at present (I hope that's the only reason!).

Importing Porsches to Germany Heinz - you will be exporting Morgans to Malvern next!

Nice collection cheers

Just having lunch and a catch up with a science prog on TV - they are using a 'straight road and a noisy car' to explain the Doppler effect

Guess which car? (don't think the prof is driving though)

After 20years of morgan ownership last year i went on the search for a porsche and eventually bought a 1994 993 in black with black leather, manual gearbox....what a car,!! But be careful what you buy, the list of problems these cars can have if not looked after is endless and can be very expensive, there is a good forum that has a very comprehensive list of what problems to check for( 911 UK)but if you do find a good one they have to be the most enjoyable and affordable supercars available ... Go for it ,lifes too short
Ps sold mine after a year, itch scratched, then bought another morgan!!
