I spent a couple of hours this morning getting a few insurance quotes for comparison as I think I will put the coal scuttle back on the road next month.

Most people are having a laugh, either that or they just don't want the business.

I have been quoted 2 to 3 times what I was paying for a 911 C4S.

Even Dick Turpin had the curtesy to wear a mask!

Prices from £296 to well over a grand.

One of the insurance brokers said that there had been a lot of claims regarding the M3W and their under writer would not even quote.

This makes me wonder if people have been falling off the road due to bump steer problems.

Has anyone else had problems or stupid quotes?

Specialists seem to have no issues with the threewheeler while the run of the mill companies are not particularly interesting in the business. Sounds very like a stock answer from the broker to any questions about high premium quotes.

Although my experience is from US quotes, I found it pretty easy to get them and the price in line with my past expectations from insuring Harleys.

In the US of A most of the variance is due to the fact that the majority of insurers are used to cookie cutter cars that fit a very precise slot. The M3W does not and they start babbling and drooling in the attempt to wrap their heads around the car. If it weren't so tragic, it would be highly amusing.

It doesn't fit in their tables. Motorcycle insurers and specialty car insurers are the only reasonable way to go.

"This makes me wonder if people have been falling off the road due to bump steer problems."

I doubt this. The big insurers have nothing on this car. There aren't enough out there. Please remember that insurance is merely another form of legalized gambling sanctioned by the state and that they, the insurers, are taking bets. The betting pool is simply not large enough to earn their interest.

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

I tried 3 specialist brokers all came in around £300. Went with Gott & Wynne agreed value & 5000 miles limit. They told me Morgans hardly ever get stolen.

Hi Tim, Gott & Wynne quoted me £296, I'll probably go with them.

I've insured my Seven with MSM for many years, so when I bought the Three Wheeler it seemed right to ask them for a quote, which at £277 for 5000 miles seemed good enough, so I went with them. Give them a ring, they try to be competitive.
