Mid last year I saw a saw pic of the M3W with an S&S Muscle cover style air filter. When i enquired directly to them I was advised that it was merely an initial idea and that nothing was available for the X-Wedge. They were however starting work on a prototype.
A couple of months later I was asked if i would be interested in reviewing the prototype when ready. A no brainer really, of course I was.
All quiet for a while but, in January I was told it would be soon. I received the kit last week and have now got it installed and I really like it !

There are two parts to the kit. 1. The basic "stealth" air filter and hardware and 2. the Muscle style cover

The installation was simple, although there were a couple of hiccups. All easily remedied though.

The Stealth filters are explained well on the S&S website (url below)

I have noted (also commented on by my co-piolt wife) a smoother motor with more tractability at low revs ( 50-60 kph in 4th is now very comfortable)
Appears more responsive as judged by seat of the pants
Best of all I really LIKE the new look.

Once the base stealth filter kit is on, there are 6 differing covers that can easily be fitted
To quote from S&S
If you do talk to anyone about this who may be interested, people will need to buy 2 PN’s from us. The 170-0200 is the “stealth” kit which includes the backplate, filter and outer plastic cover. They then have the choice of cosmetic covers. You received the chrome muscle cover, PN 170-0121, but we also offer 6 other styles in both black and chrome finish.

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with S&S other than to accept their generous offer to preview this new kit for the X-Wedge and the 3W

I'm guessing you didn't need to change the mapping or they didn't supply you with a different ECU? Otherwise it looks really nice. Any idea on how much they are charging yet?

That sets the front of Henry off very nicely. I do like the tear drop shaped one on their website as well.

Hi Paul
I have done nothing to the ECU mapping. S&S advise that existing adaptive facility in ECU can handle the difference.
I have copied the ECU data as was , then reset all the adaptive maps. After a wee while driving I will be able to compare before and after adaptive graphs to see what has changed
I have no info on the charges, however their website may have prices for the non X Wedge filter covers currently on sale

Hi PDron
The Hiccups were very minor ie a screw short in kit and Instructions missing.
Both were brought very quickly to my attention by S&S themselves.
Instructions sent by e-mail and replacement screw found in my tool box. Slightly more bothersome was the metric cap screws holding on the old backing plate in an imperial threaded hole!!! Luckily enough of correct thread left to hold the new correct screws

Otherwise it was an easy DIY job
