I can confirm how useful it is to raise the front edge of the squab too. All I did was to use piece of wood, 2"x 2" in my case, screwed into the base at the front, which then sits just behind the chassis cross member. I'm not that large, but it is still more supportive for me than the standard squab. I just wish I could work out a way of moving the pedals across to the right enough to get my clutch foot down alongside? I'm working on it though idea

Back to the original thread, Peter, if you are still following, perhaps you can comment on the difference between the original Suplex suspension, as fitted to the the early cars, before the Spax units, and the current Suplex kit? If the new dampers are uprated units, can the older Suplex dampers be uprated?

I have extracted the digit, applied lateral thinking and brought the cushion inside. My measurements of the standard cushion are about the same as those, though I lifted the front end further.

Rear part of seat cushion I calculate at 3.14in, roughly the value of Pi, which I expect is a coincidence.

Standard forward height 5.5in, after modification 9.8in.

Too many of those & one would need a thicker seat foam.. grin2

Yes, quite right, we should get back to the original thread - and that comparison would be interesting.

Also, I should like to know, PJB, what are your recommended settings for the new Suplex front and rear dampers, both one-up and two-up?

That's how the internet works Dan, it's surprising which way threads can go sometimes.

Are the new Suplex adjustable? I somehow thought they would be setup and sealed at the factory. Mind you, for that price I guess I should expect them to be adjustable for bump and rebound.

They are definitely adjustable - look at the photo in Black Adder's post above (25/02/14).

Oh yes, is that what those little knurled knobs are for at the top? They look nice don't they? Thanks Peter.

Put some rent in the window and took the coal scuttle out today for the first time since last October to see what the difference the Spax dampers and ride height have made to the handling.

This cannot be the same car!

My 20 mile test route of A & B roads plus some poorly maintained motorway showed up a HUGE difference.

I can now corner with confidence and on a specific part of the M1 which last year had me clenching the panic button and hanging on for dear life at 60, is now a breeze at 80.

The ride seems to be more compliant, but that might just be me, and doesn't crash into pot holes like it used to.

All in all, money and time well spent.
