Reading this after agreeing to buy mine suggests that the Sports (I presume they mean side - as this is a cost option) frees up another 23 bhp. Is that possibly true?

I'd question whether the shorter exhaust really liberates as much power, but it will liberate some. Only someone who has done rolling road work on both could say for sure.

As I specified the sports exhaust on my plus 8 and witnessed them being fitted at the factory, what I can say is that the downpipe from the cat to the silencer is approx 50% larger than the standard version they removed.

I have a Supersport with side exhausts and it is officially rated at 390bhp. But never mind the power drink in the sound at full chat!

Remember it's only a 6% increase which most exhaust improvements would claim to be possible.

An extra 23bhp equates to 19 more per 1000kg - which is rather nice.
The sound, which is after all what has seduced me, is amazing! As I said originally - the best engine note this side of a GT3 at LeMans

I think a rolling road before and after is in order...
From previous rolling road tests, it's been pretty clear that there can be a fairly wide range of powers coming out of Individual Aeros. I'd be pretty surprised if an exhaust made that much impact, the main constriction in an Aero engine is in the headers as they are rather wrapped up. If the top of the engine is restricted, it seems unlikely that just reducing back pressure will have that much impac...
