My condolences to our Australian brothers....they have made a good looking car look utterly ridiculous....

The roll hoops I could live with, but those mirrors are absolutely horrendous...and don't get me started on that steering wheel.

However, I suspect all is not lost, the mirrors could be replaced easily, and the steering wheel swapped for a nice Moto-Lita...

I suspect the after market will have a field day in Oz!

I am forever amazed that what one country thinks is safe and sound, another is convinced will be the end of civilisation as we know it. Those mods look completely ridiculous and won't in truth make the slightest difference (roll hoops aside, maybe) in normal road driving, yet MMC have had to jump through all those hoops to get the car (hopefully) legal for sale.

Just as crazy was the US view that headlamps over 7" in size were going to kill people or something, hence those ugly mods to nicely designed European cars in the 80's and 90's where large lamps were replaced with nasty looking pairs in support of so called safety. Why was it that the American authorities thought the rest of the world were crazy..?! Gotta love Departments of Transport eh?!

Couldn't agree more thumbs

The Australian market is strangled with these unique design rules that in a global market place are irrelevant, if European safety standards are met then surely that should be sufficient for us. I have heard the reason new 4 seater Morgans cannot be sold in Australia is because they do not meet ADR's for child restraint mounting points in the rear - and this particular standard has impeded or delayed other main stream European cars being launched here too. I understand the ADR's for low volume vehicles are also different which no doubt creates further challenges….

In any case I am looking forward to seeing the M3W in Oz…..we like to be different down here so a unique version of great and fun car will be a welcome addition to Aussie roads cheers
