If anyone knows Mike Snell of Bristol, he put a diesel engine in a 4/4 many years ago. Definitely not for me though, I have only owned Morgans with a V8, so far!

With no sound deadening in a Morgan, it must be a dreadfully noisy car.....and not in a nice way either. I hate that diesel clatter.

Diesel?? DIESEL!!!!! The fuel of Satan. Dean - did you really say that, D....D....D....iesel ? I have had a reasonable selection of the best ones (BMW, VW etc) but would never ever want that noise in a MOG, of any shape. I think I am in shock I agree with the comments about part of the fun of a Morgan is being an open top, we had the same issue prior to buying the Coupe. A large part of that is because it allows you get all of that glorious V8 rumble. I drive the Coupe with the window wide open a LOT of the time.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

It had a non turbo diesel from a Peugot 405. Seemingly went well but sounded like a tractor... A clear case of "Just because you can does not mean you should"!

Last summer I travelled, as a passenger, in an Audi A4 Diesel soft top. The one thing that I am sure they didn't mention in the sales brochure was the slight smell of diesel exhausr that accompanied the experience. . .not nice.

I went down from Paris to St Tropez this autumn in an Audi A4 3.0 V6 Quattro convertible and didn't notice any unpleasant smells when we had the roof down, nor did I find the noise unpleasant. In fact, I found it a pretty impressive car. Mind you, I still wouldn't want an oil burner in a Morgan !!!

Guys Guys come on, take the exhausts off back to the heads and fire both cars up V8 petrol V8 Diesel both sound the same, its only the design of the exhaust that entertains you. On another note Chris Evans article on the Electric car in the Telegraph this week quote " there are two boots one at the back where we would expect one and one at the front where we used to fit something called an Engine"
