I know there have been a few posts on this subject but I am a little confused ( easily done in my case ) If I have the ECU remapped on my 2011 Plus four does it generate a higher BHP ? I was told it would improve fuel efficency, how can it do both ?

Did it on vMog 2 weeks ago: 20bhp advertised and a little less fuel efficiency. 400 miles after the remap, I haven't noticed the change for the latter.

Cheers,
Vladimir

vMog is a 2013 +4/ 4 seater, dark red with saddle brown trim, wooden dashboard and console.

We need Chunky to respond.....he knows the answers!

He's been quiet for the last week....perhaps he's been busy remapping my Roadster!

PS. Welcome to TM Rhodes

Rhodes,
I had my ECU remapped (not my Mog though...) recently and I asked the same questions.
The answers I got were that a 'standard' ECU is programmed with a lot of safety margins and restrictions that actually can make the engine less efficient. Remapping includes minimizing margins and removing of some restrictions to make the engine run more effectively when used in a relatively normal fashion. I was also told that it's normal that improvement in mpg does not occur until you've used up at least 2-3 tanks of fuel. This because the ECU has to self-adjust to the new settings and your personal driving style.
As I said, this is not my own knowledge but the information I was given by the supplier.

This is very true, manufactures play it very safe with a standard Ecu as it has to work in many countries under different conditions.
We at Williams are able to safely adjust the stock Ecu but still within the safe parameters.

Mr Chunky

How are you guys getting on with the remap for 3.7 V6 ?

[Getting desperate living with the hanging revs issue]

Mr Chunky,

May I join the queue for a 3.7 remap to remove the hanging revs issue that blights my car and that the factory seem to have little appetite to address themselves after accepting my blind investment of 50K made in good faith for the new Roadster variant.
Having reported hanging revs repeatedly to the factory since taking delivery direct from them in May 2013, 10,000 on and I am very disappointed that I see no evidence of the latterly promised improved customer focus and no attempt to rectify this issue although it is common knowledge that it exists. I do not want to hear about any emissions nonsense being responsible for the hanging revs if that were the case I would be driving a Prius. Get this sorted Mr Chunky and you will transform my ownership experience and have a long and loyal new customer. Keep up the good work..

Apologies for the rant. A small point of detail that spoils what should be a great car.

Reading these posts saddens me that the Factory aren't taking more care of their customers. Although I prefer to stick with my older cars I haven't closed the door on a future purchase. The Morgan owner support base must be unique in the world at this moment. One can't help thinking we (MSCC, MTWC, etc) are taken for granted and profits from the classic models are propping up the "super" car range. Without the enthusiastic aftermarket support, which comes at a price, these cars would still be in the dark ages. However, the Factory often ignore practical ideas even from these aftermarket specialists. Perhaps it is time for a customer satisfaction survey?
Rant over - still think they are fabulous cars even if the bodywork doesn't fit properly - try measuring the gaps between headlamp nacelle and cowl, or bumper and wing - 1/2" or less difference - very good, it's handmade you know!!
