been getting the itch for something a bit more sinister as well as like the idea that a jet hot coating on the exhaust would cool the exhaust temps as well as solve the problem of the polished pipes eventually oxidizing/looking like dermot.
would love to see everyone's pics of their cars with black exhaust pipes. post away!

Great set of pics R3 - the pipes look great - how were they treated?

Its the factory black ceramic coating. First set had some issues which were noted at the first service and they were replaced a few months later once the black pipes had become available again.

hah, already did it, just wanting to see more examples in the flesh as i'm still hesitant. my mockups look too shinny and i'm also curious to see how everyone's black pipes are holding up. also playing with different interior colors for just for grins

Don't worry - I had faith! There is some wear and tear on the black but they are still looking good and I dare say that all exhaust pipes lead a hard life, ours are just a bit more exposed than most. Bare, thin wall titanium would be nice - love the way it colours up with the heat - but having just finished paying off my mortgage I don't fancy taking out another one.

I think the M3W needs contrast, so the black pipes look really good on RedThree's car, for example, but not so good on a black car like Blake's (or mine); perhaps the black pipe with the shiny heat shield would work. I must say I like the look of the black leather, though.

that's the million dollar question and why i've been hesitant as i'm not sure if it's too much black. as for the shinny heat shield for some reason it's always looked a bit flimsy to me asbo, are you talking about red pipes? I think the M3W needs contrast, so the black pipes look really good on RedThree's car, for example, but not so good on a black car like Blake's (or mine); perhaps the black pipe with the shiny heat shield would work. I must say I like the look of the black leather, though.
