I have a 2004 Plus 8 on which the Check Engine warning light has appeared twice in the last few days. Never appeared before. The Land Rover technician who seems very competent and experienced told me that this is fault P0446 - Purge canister closure valve malfunction (drive cycle C)and he wrote it down for me. He checked everything and can see no reason for the fault appearing and suggested I post it on a forum such as this. Any ideas?

If you do a Google search for the error code there are LOTS of posts covering a wide range of cars. This sums it up well:
The vapor pressure sensor, VSV for canister closed valve (CCV), VSV for pressure switching valve are used to detect abnormalities in the evaporative emission control system. The ECM decides whether there is an abnormality in the evaporative emission control system by the vapor pressure sensor signal. DTCs P0441 and P0446 are recorded by the ECM when evaporative emissions leak from the components when there is a malfunction anywhere in the VSV for EVAP, the VSV for pressure switching valve, or in the vapor pressure sensor itself.
checked basic , gas cap.
More than likely you need to take to Morgan specialist or dealership to see if there is a leak somewhere or wether there is a malfunction with a vac. solenoid valve(vsv)
Of course if your Morgan doesn't have an evaporation control system then it is really confusing!

Also possibly do NOT overfill tank? Overfilling can lead to liquid fuel in the evap canister, which will give MIL until the canister dries out...

I have had similar fault on my 2002 plus8 I plugged in a fault code reader to find what it was and a simple reset cured it. Not returned since after a couple thousand miles. Same thing for a " random misfire" fault which has not returned after reset and check of all leads etc.
