At the risk of diverting this thread massively ....! I've been testing pretty heavily various options that are going to be viable as a real 'do it all ' car. One that will entertain me, be viable 24-7 365 days a year, take 2 adults and 2 kids in comfort and have enough luggage space to spend a week in France, but be a serious fun car for a weekend joining in the Scottish highlands. And sound amazing.... So far I 've tested..., Rapide - great car , interior isn't great though, the rear seats are cramped and fitting child seats leaves children very little room in there. The luggage space is limited too. It sounds awesome, and as a drivers car is better than most things , but it doesn't really allow you to actually take the family too, its just a bit compromised... Rapide S - as above but sounds better and goes faster! Great fun, but still flawed . Auto box is ok but shifts ain't quick... Bentley Continental SS - its a tank. A nice tank , but a tank. And the satnsv is from the. 70s ... Interior is beautiful though. Bootspace is ok. Rear space is ok too. Not a fan of the exterior shape though.. Maserati Quattroportte - good space, interior nice Bootspace not massive and its rather underpowered in this company . Does sound nice though. Maserati Granturismo - as above but better looking. Sounds even better. Not big fan if the interior here though. Ferrari FF - insane 660bhp engine, massive rear space , big boot with hatch. Definitely fulfils the brief, handles and goes like a car half its weight. Gearbox is a revelation. Expensive though... Porsche. 997 Turbo S - real world all weather pace to beat all comers. Interior is ok, rear space massively compromised, hardly any luggage space. Would work as transport for family day trips just , but no use for a week in France, just too small... Overall the maser GT or the FF acquit themselves well, Rapide as is flawed but would be viable ... Better sell the max and have a chat with the finance director

Rich, interesting to hear your take on some fabulous metal.
None of my business - but why the search for the one "do everything" car?
Unless you have just one parking space/garage, isn't a 'portfolio' approach going to give you more variety and the tools to do more of what you want better, depending on circumstance, mood etc.
Not my cup of tea, but isn't this why a lot of 30+ petrolheads gravitate towards a Range Rover or Cayenne to tick all the practical & family boxes, then run something uncompromised by four/five doors rear seats etc for the fun stuff?

I don't get it. I read this and I think someone has taken control of your keyboard. You don't want to sell the Max. You tried a little bit last time. But only a little bit.
AeroMax and Shed is the only way to go. Embrace the benefits and fun of running a shed. Live for the counter culture moment.

I tested some of these cars when looking to replace the Aero SuperSport and my take was as follows: AM Rapide/DB7: Both felt old-fashioned, but not in a positive way. Also most friends who have bought them have had some major fettling to do to sort them. I didn't want to go down that route again for now. Maserati Granturismo: We owned one of these and did not like it. Too low, graunched itself on every sleeping policeman in the area and there's plenty! Trim fell off, engine too peaky with too much avoirdupois for daily driver. You have to rev the nuts of it to keep up with the traffic! Sold after 6-months with horrendous depreciation... Ferrari California: Nice, but too compromised for continental touring and you can't put mileage on them for resale reasons. Did not try FF as outside my price bracket new, though affordable used. Not sure it's a practical solution for same reasons?  Porsche Turbo: Like all 911's these days so competent, but you already have one and you do need some character in your special car... Bentley Continental GTC V8: Handling much more balanced than W12, due to 60:40 power split and lighter engine. 40% more economical too, not that that really matters in these circumstances!  Now they have the V8S, which in GT form must be the answer to your needs. You can borrow my GTC for a few days and see what you think as a driving experience, I'm sure you'll be sold on one. Ooh, can i play  I'm in the midst of a change around and looked at McLaren 12C, great looking car, but it'sall Iin the performance and that's not what I'm really after. Dealer network not very supportive either apparently. California, agree with Brian comments, and would be a bit of a retrograde step after my 16M. SLS GT and Roadster, nice and special but posed a dilemma, see later. a few different Astons including the DBS (not rapide as I really don't like the shape, it just looks so cumbersome) but was put off by the Quality! Closest I got was the SLS GT, however after driving it, I just wasn't as enthralled as I expected to be. The gearbox was not smooth on auto but admittedly I only drove it on public roads, and I know it's great on track. I drove my GTC speed the next day and realised that I was far far happier in that than any of the others. As such i am now the proud owner of a fabulous Bentley GTC Supersports which suits my needs entirely. And all I would say is why have 8 cylinders when you can have 12, and 626 bhp  And being the serial car whore that i am i also bought an SL63 so I can still enjoy that 6.2 AMG roar. Now come on Rich, stop prevaricating, you know what they say '**** or get off the pot'

I know what I want however I need to sell the Aeromax to make it happen. Just need to get the ad sorted, which is taking a bit of time - focus has been on rest of fleet first! Fleet re- org in process here too. Just swapped our RRS for a Supercharged FFRR. Liz is very happy, I am buying BP shares! Now that the boss has a new car the floor is open for me to swap too! Porsche will go as well in time. Its lovely and Its probably the most fun thing I've driven in years, but its not viable with a family of 4 with the kids in child seats, I'll buy another in a few years when they are big enough to sit in the back without seats.

AMG SL63 ? Which model - I thought that was one of the early ones to swap over to the 5.5 BiTurbo ? Still a stunning engine, I have the same in my practical car (ahem) the E estate.

Aeromax ad is up. Someone will be interested I'm sure...
FF is next if I can make it happen at the right price, Rapide S as an alternative and keep the 911. Am smitten by the FF is a crazy bonkers but somehow justifiable choice. Man Maths may be involved here though!

i am now the proud owner of a fabulous Bentley GTC Supersports I would imagine that is quite a motor  Congratulations and do share some photos. Am I correct in thinking that it is the pinnacle of the Continental line? Have not seen one in the metal.
