Charlie, back in 1982 in one of the chalets on the main road through town sold American Aerolight ultralight airplanes.

My buddy from Clare and I bought two of them. We took our flight training out in the country near there at a grass strip. I flew that baby for a couple years.

I had floats and flew off Higgins Lake a couple summers and then made snow skis for it and took it up to Tip Up Town a couple winters and flew off Houghton Lake and raced snowmobiles.

Oh those were my young and stupid days. But what fun it was!

I too carry a copy of the Motorcycle Operators Manual, already opened to page 53, in with my tool kit and such. While I do remember the Playboy Club, I was never old enough to attend before it was closed. I was born in '80 and will be 34 in a month or so.

Actually Poppa - it is a motorcycle in Texas. MY M3W is registered as a motorcycle, and I needed to get an M endorsement on my license to drive it. The definition you quote is on the DPS website...but when I called they said they consider the M3W to be a Motorcycle/Trike.

With that said, Texas does have a special license endorsement for three wheelers, and you need to take the class on a Can Am Spyder - type bike, but that is another option for licensure in Texas.

You're wrong. The 2nd day of class the head of the motorcycle safety course for the state personally came out to meet me when he heard I had a Morgan on the way. What I wrote here came directly out of his mouth even though someone in Austin told me differently.

I would prefer it be classified as a motorcycle in TX for the HOV access if nothing else.

California considers anything with less then 4 wheels to be a motorcycle. Although I have been riding for years, have a motorcycle endorsement, and wear a helmet while using the Morgan, I understand California does not require either for 3 wheel vehicles.
When Arnold was the Gov, he talked his way out of a ticket at the Rock Store by stating that since he was on a Harley with a side car, he didn't need a helmet or endorsement. They let him go....

If you have a copy of your MSO (Manufacturers Statement of Origin), the M3W is listed as a 'trike' ... so generally a motorcycle, not a car.

thumbs cheers

In Alabama, Morgans are few and far between so driving a M3W no one really knows what to think about it .The Sheriff said as long as you wore your safety belt / harness and eye protection no one was going to question you. I wear my leather helmet and goggles and have police and Hy. Patrol pull up beside me and give me the thumbs up and drive on.
