Honestly I do not see the advantage of having a lockable glovebox.
This for sure will stop you from opening it without a key because you'd never want to ruin the leather around it.
A real thief I am pretty sure he will not care, and he will just break it, making a lot of mess around (considering that he will need just a metal simple bar to break the hinges).
For this reason I decided to go for a simple "cover".
At least I can minimize the mess in the unfortunate case that something happens and anyhow being able to "hide" something.

Just proves there is always more than one solution to a problem.

Thanks Ale 72 .........

I get your drift on this one. I do like your solution however as a way of just tidying up the glove box area ...... Will have to look to see if I can fit a ball catch as was a little worried about drilling in that area due to the air bag being so close.

Cheers ......... Pete

When I had mine done they added an alu bar to fix the catch mechanism (similar to the ball catch you want to use).
You can see it in the third pic in the links above.
I can try to take better pics, if it helps.

Thanks again Ale 72 .......

I am now looking to see if I can fit the ball catch on the side of the pocket as this will be well clear of the airbag ... This seems do-able and may well keep me quiet for a few weeks .....

Cheers ........... Pete

You could always fit a cam lock into the lid. Might have to adjust or bend the cam to sit behind the timber of the dash to make it lock, or make a small alloy striker plate.

Here's a link...
