I believe Shooter (Ian) may find these of particular interest.

This And this The bike is currently for sale, the Carver isn't. The bike is matt black powdercoat. I think the Carver is regular black paint with a matt/satin clearcoat. I'd like to find out the technique used on the Nissan as I prefer that look. I'm guessing it is a pure matt clearcoat but I need to get the exact detail to give the factory for the Aero.

? Are you aiming for an anti-radar 'stealth' finish?

Out of interest how do you maintain the surface finish on a matt car?

Out of interest how do you maintain the surface finish on a matt car? That is still something I'm trying to find out. Most car shampoo's have a 'shine' agent of some kind although Meguirs have one that doesn't. Originally, I just washed them down with water and dried them .. Now I use the meguirs shampoo as well. seems to work OK. Perhaps as matt becomes more popular in the USA, someone will develop a matt protectant.

Ian, have you ever used a fine clay bar on one? I imagine road grime sticks with ease to the Matt finish, therefore, I would expect to clay it more than a car with a clearcoat. ps - I'm not sure how they did it but the finish on the Skyline looks perfect
