Good luck with getting that screen Blake - to me it is the framing that makes it special and gives it the Vintage look.

totally agree on the metal frame. we poured through hundreds of photos of vintage trikes to give the metal workers reference points. was really cool to even be on the fringe of the process.

Makes it look like a Triking on steroids..!

Got to be a framed screen in my eyes as you can fit windscreen glass & possibly a wiper. I'm not too fussed about a roof, or I'd have plumped for a four wheeler.

I would buy one in a heartbeat. That's a winner.

They have offered to paint the centre piece black for me. Also they are looking into attaching a rear view mirror. Seem very accommodating.

Hope the instructions are not to hard for a simple soul like myself. Think the local car body shop will be fine to keep me right.

I enquired about the fitting arrangement , and they kindly sent a copy of the fitting instructions. The metal center part between the two panes uses the center tonnau cover fastener to fix it to the body , so no new holes needed in the body although it recommends opening it out slightly.

hi guys. i had a chat with kevin this morning and he said it would be ok if i showed some of the behind the scenes photos to the making of his windscreen. they were already pretty far along on the process and had just made a new wood form to test fit for this visit which is what you’re looking at. you can also see from the profile shot the challenges with making a top for the trike as the drivers head is so much higher than the windscreen (even kevin’s). this is why on the back on the headrest he made a receptacle for the vertical supports of the back of the top to go in to which allows the top to be raised at an appropriate height for the driver.

a couple other notes

the car was at Finish Line interiors who are the guys that do all of tim allen’s hotrods and they had torn the trike apart to do a whole slew of modifications to it (which is why it’s in a million pieces) and the two guys in the photos (kevin is in the driver’s seat) are the metal fabricators who were visiting the shop to do the test fittings. they specialize in doing a bunch of custom metal work for hotrods and other vintage cars that require one off pieces.

one last thing to note is the exhaust on kevin’s car. those mufflers are temporary cans as kevin is working on a custom exhaust that is a bit quieter but higher performing that stock as due to the long distance nature of kevin’s trips a loud exhaust wasn’t an option and he needed a temporary solution for his trip as he hadn’t finished his proper exhaust system.

I’ve also included a pic of his 4 seater trad that has 250,000 miles on it that kevin drove to the shop as well as a pic of my trike next to kevin’s when we met up for a drive a couple months after his windscreen was done (excuse the non scenic shots as we were had just stopped for petrol).

Some interesting stuff there Blake, and good to see Kevin so enthused [well you too, of course], I have great admiration for men like Kevin who are so single minded in their goals.
