I can replicate some semblance of the same sound by shifting rapidly between third and fourth gear with the clutch depressed with the car at rest...
This will really need a teardown akin to what Q8 did buring his BB oild change to localize...I just need to find the time...that for the photos Q8 - it will help!

Remove everything,move every part.my hot rods made noises from the smallest washers/parts.it takes patients & time.good luck,hope its an easy fix

Probaby $500 plus or minus $50. But I recently had a Roadster shipped and the price jumped to $800

I believe I have the same noise. Been at the dealer for a while. We're thinking it's the bevel box.
