I've just finished fitting a pair of bonnet stays made by our fellow TMer Cain.
He asked me if I would like to try a pair out to test them and his fitting instructions and I have to say that I am mightily impressed.
He has looked at the various shortcomings of the stays on the market and in particular the ease of operation and security of the bonnet whilst open and come up with a very nice solution. Beautifully engineered with stainless water jet cut brackets.

Rubber covered lower ball joint bolted to lower bonnet catch.

Upper water jet cut stainless bracket with sliding collar lock fits to inside of bonnet catch and clips onto ball fitting on top of stainless stay

Stay in folded position clipped to stainless bracket.

They look to be very good quality, plus neat and secure.

Like the idea that these fit into existing fittings. I have some similar size, but does not hold the bonnet even

Gets around the "wind under the bonnet" issue with the HoE ones. I like the ball idea, better than adding an r-clip I suspect to the standard ones. Nice touch under the bonnet catch.

Thank you all, appreciate all the good feed back.
It all started when working on the Mog outside, a gust of wind sent it over crashing down when I went to get a spanner..... banghead
The rest is history just wanted a good solution.
Both bonnets can be up at the same time without touching, this gives more light in the bay to work.
I have already had one PM asking me to make some more, so I'm off to the shed just ask and I'll make some more up.

Peter,

Are these linked to any particular model? They have been a point of discussion at a couple of Morgan WA meets now, are you going to Patent them or do we just put in an order for 20 or so sets at a rough cost of two cans of sunshine and a jar of Vegemite per setsomestick
