Also remember that frayed throttle cables can jam unexpectedly, so bear that in mind.

Thanks Dave,
Yes, I'm not using the Mof until I've fixed it.
So guess what I'll be doing on Friday?
Also greasing the kingpins, cleaning the inside of the wheels, etc.

Peter

Your lucky to get a cable, just had a look at mine and although everything seems fine I thought I would get a spare.....3 dealers later no stock, tried MMC and they would not put me through to Parts Department and advised they will not post out to owners anymore and I have to order through a dealer....have emailed our favourite 'Uncle' to see if he has one, you don't know if Williams had 2 do you? Good job its not a panic job!

If you ever get totally stuck for a throttle cable try a biker site. It is often impossible to get a made up cable for a vintage bike so suppliers do kits of nipples, outers and inners.
............then brush up on your soldering techniques!

Having just made up 3 harnesses (one bike, one caravan and one for a trailer) I know what you mean about soldering, just glad I have a gas/cordless soldering iron...worth the crazy price in convenience. I carried spare cables on most of my bikes (taped under the frame under the tank)but its something I have never done with cars....silly really as they are just as likely to fail.

Have you tried BHM Colin?
I carry a spare throttle and clutch cable in 'Q'.
Had same in RTA and never needed them. Annoyed I let it's clutch cable go with the car though - same for X-flow to Zetec... banghead

And just heard from Uncle Melvyn that he will place a new cable on his stock order for me tomorrow......;-)

No wonder the chap sells as many parts as the rest of the network put together!

Brilliant service (question to answer in under an hour)

Thanks Graham, no they were not one of the 3 I tried. I emailed Melvyn Rutter and he checked stock and has placed one on his dealer stock order for me, I had said it was a none urgent part and just for spares.

Uncle Melvyn is most likely to hold the parts in my experience, although I have had equally good service from BHM.
