Oh no I think iv'e done it now
Following on from the debate re what is better - new plus 8 or Aero I was in the middle of a decision crisis at the time of Aldermogs posts - I used to be indecisive now i'm not so sure !
I had my lovely series 3 yet still there was something missing - The upsides were great tourer - nice big book for Mrs Gajets essentials etc yet the performance and of course convertible .....
The downsides - not easy to drive round town,
I found myself looking for a nice S4 without success - I think it was the draw of the upgraded engine and auto box that appealed - Aero SS a bit out of my price range
Then I spotted the MMC 2012 Geneva car for sale and the debate began - Could I live without the soft top - then I started to analyse this - The only time I ever managed to use it I got a burn head , and couldnt see the sat nag etc so in fact it wasnt an issue really -
I tried the plus 8 and whilst the engine and transmission are the same as the Aero - the refinement of the cabin in the Aero IMHO is a much more pleasant place to be
Fantastic Sound System , comfy seats, air con, cruise control , Yes I know these are weaknesses but I am getting old you know and need some creature comforts
Then there is the boot - under the teardrop lid is a HUGE boot - this weekend we took our full size wheelee case and it fitted flat on its side with room for another and all my tools etc - much more than the S3
So with some fantastic help from Williams (thanks Henry) the deal was struck -
Cruella's maiden voyage was this weekend around the mountains of North Wales with some friends - I now know my decision was correct -the Evo Triangle beckoned and WOW what a car - ps dean the pub where the "sheep incident" occurred has closed.
Everywhere we went the car was Mobbed - The full car park at the Snowdon steam railway suddenly let one more car in in prime location
The Conway falls car park had loads of people looking and a long discussion with the owner who mentioned a guy who wrote off an Aston Martin DB9 on the evo-trianngle last week - apparently he went off and the car was reduced to a pile of splintered carbon fibre - oops
The Auto is so well matched to the engine and the way it blips on the down changes is a really nice touch - Surprisingly a little less legroom than the S3 but still sufficient for my 6'3" frame
The car has a few chips which I will sort so off to find a touch up pencil . I will post some more photos as I begin fettlin duties
