My turn signals and my emergency flasher are not functioning consistently. Sometimes it works but say 85% of the time they do not. Even when it does flash it seems to have a slow start to the first blink. Opened up the electrical graph and chart of the fuse box. The electrical diagram for me was unintelligible and the fuse diagram fails to tell what fuse serves what function.
Anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this. My dealer is 2,500 miles from here!

Could be a faulty switch or loose connection on it- make sure connectors are firmly inserted.Mine wewnt on the 4/4 sport & left me without sidelights.

I had similar symptoms - dealer fixed it by replacing the flasher relay - sorry no idea where that is on the car, but it must be traceable.

I assume all electricals are in the box between the instruments and the battery. I have never looked in mine and its at the dealer at the moment.
I wonder are indicators solid state timer circuit or a bendy wire system? You should be able to get it fixed anywhere.

I think the control circuit for the indicators must run through the S & S ECU as they are dependant on road speed to some extent.
It may not be just a straight forward flasher relay problem.

Suggest you check all the connectors and lamps are good first. There is a Turn Signal Module under the fuse box, according to the parts manual, page 42 item 12. Also a LED Flasher relay, item 13, next to it. A connector for the indicator arm is under the steering column I think. It may be worth checking the connectors on them all. As Dab of opo says, there is a speed input into it from the ECU as well, just to complicate matters. No good circuit diagrams available doesn't make it easy. Hope that helps.

Thanks to all who replied. Planenut, on a us left hand car which is the correct relay? Isn't there two side by side?

The Turn Signal Module is below the fuse box, I think it has an identification lable on the front of it. Above that is the LED Flasher Relay. The two small square relays near the fuse box are nothing to do with the flashers (I think). The supply fuse for the flashers is the 5 amp one in the LH (port) side, forward row in the fuse box. If all the connectors are good and the fault is still there, maybe there is a fault code on the ECU that will point you in the right direction as to the problem. With a 2500 mile trip to your dealer, maybe they will send you a signal module to change, that is the main part of the system so more chance of a fault there than anywhere. Good luck!

It worked ! The turn signal module had vibrated loose. Used a bit of duck tape to hold it in place
