Hello,
just joined the forum. haven't had a Morgan since I sold my 4/4 XCF502T some 15 years ago (wonder where it is now!) Am starting the process of looking for a car and am deciding whether a similar 1970s 4/4 for about £15,000 is the way to go or whether I should take the plunge and order a new one. Has anyone used the Morgan finance deal? If I was going the new route I'd new some financial help!

Next stop I guess would be my local dealer who didn't exist when I last drove a Morgan!

Welcome and happy looking

I had a 4/4 between 80 & 86 and took ownership of a 2006 Roadster in January of this year. This site is a veritable philosophers stone with people with vast amounts of knowledge they are happy to share. The 'management' have light touch moderation which is also very good.

Welcome to TM Simon.

I suppose a lot depends on how much time you might want to spend under it or in it! I bought by 4/4/ Sport (2011) at 18 months old as there wasn't a lot of difference in price for that than a 10-12 year old 4/4 with more mileage on it and potentially requiring more work.

With having my own business time is precious and I want to get out in it an drive it rather than having to continually maintain it. Others on here might have a different opinion on that but it's worked well for me. I can't comment on the Morgan finance as I didn't use that.

Good luck with the hunt. As we've all found out it's the car that chooses you not you choose the car!

Well there's no hurry to find a car. Ideally I would like a new one. I was on the waiting list post John Harvey Jones but six years later when my build came up I just had different priorities. Will keep my eyes and ears open!

Welcome - we bought the S2 as our first Mog on the assumption it would retain most of its value as we saved for a Max. We got a Mog now and have subsequently become owners of the factory demo silver Coupe. Whoever said you cannot have your cake and eat it clearly did not think it through.

Take the plunge now and prepare to trade up when you are ready. The retained value of a well loved Mog works well.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Welcome to the forum Simon!
As an ex 2010 4/4 owner who upgraded to a 3.0 Roadster last year, if I was starting again and wanted a 4/4, I'd not buy the latest Sigma engined one but look for the earlier 1800 Zetec cars which as I'm sure Budster will remind me, enjoys a lot better torque characteristics. Or look out for the 75th Anniversary model which has the 2 litre Duratec in the narrow wheeled 4/4 bodyshell. A really nice package.

Welcome Simon.

All depends on how you feel about fettling....newer ones may take more!

Enjoy the hunt and let the car choose you!

Take a few test drives and get a feel. If you would spec a new car in a traditional colour/trim, then you may save money by finding one already built to that spec. If you go for new you should brace yourself for some initial fettling.

Sure I will! I like the look of a couple of older 4/4s on the Lifes website (especially as they're at the cheaper end!) Long way from Devon though!
