I would like to have a luggage rack on my M3W, the Morgan rack is about £350 but when I asked to have it fitted at Krazy Horse they quoted me £265.
So I declined, looking at the photos I think it requires a couple of holes drilled into the hoops, surely this does not warrant a £265 bill.
Has anyone fitted the rack themselves?
Cheers...

From what my dealer told me, underneath the black or chrome, the hoops are made of a very tough stainless which is a challenge to drill!
I, too, inquired about installation and he had a look of real pain...
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

If it is stainless steel as the base metal, use a very sharp bit and turn it very slow with lots of lube. Running the bit at normal speeds for plain steel will overheat the bit and the stainless causing it to harden at the hole very quickly.
Just go slow with lube and you'll be okay.
Tapping the hole is the same, reverse your tap frequently and use lots of cutting oil. The tube can't be more than 1/8" thick anyway.

Have I missed something, or is it more than a bit daft that it is necessary to drill through the alleged rollover hoops?

If you look at the luggage rack on the Morgan web site you can see how it is fitted, also it states in the description that drilling is required. It looks like a couple of holes need to be drilled and possibly tapped in the hoops. Mike...

Right or wrong, this is what they have.

If you go to the Morgan 3 wheel facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/202579883202771/Scroll down quite a bit and someone has posted pics of a solution using clamps - looks a nice solution to drilling

I was told the clamped vs drilled version is why I'm sans ordered luggage rack a year on from delivery ... The dealers here in the colonies crabbed about drilling in the roll hoops ... ... a question of reducing strength ... My head sticks up a bit over the roll hoops, so ... Still waiting ...
