Apologies, I am a non-mechanic.
M3W carcooned over winter and not started (sorry, weather been rubbish).
Battery OK, can hear the fuel pump, plugs appear OK to me, topped up with fresh petrol (20% space left only) and finally tried one of these air inlet easy start sprays.
All I get is a rat-a-tat of the starter motor. Perhaps a very slight flicker after 5-10 seconds.
What next? Should I spray the plugs, replace, call a friend? Help

Unless you've had it on a charger the battery will be too flat to properly turn the engine...try some jump leads from another car or charge the battery up and I'll be surprised if it doesn't start

What is showing on the display for voltage? I believe if under 10-11 it would indicate that its the rectifier.
I had the starter motor solenoid noise a few times and each time it's been the rectifier.

Thanks for the replies.
Checked the voltage 12.3V. Charging overnight so I'll have another go in the morning.

Battery not charged enough to provide cold cranking current. Try a charged one, but if it's been left over winter to slowly discharge you may be lucky to recover it with a battery conditioner.
If it doesn't, budget for a replacement.

Think you would need to go into training for the toboggan before you tried!

The rat a tat sounds like relay not having enough voltage. Bit more juice should solve the problem.

Hi Salcombe - did the charge work ok?
The battery will run done over time - particularly if u have a Toad or similar fitted.
You can bump start - but MMC do not recommend this!

Thanks everyone
Battery was the issue. Doh!
Went to Dartmouth for a run and everything fine. Voltage went from 12.7 to 14.8.
Another lesson learnt
