Well after my 10,000 mile service , new front tyres and new brake pedal(!) last week , I thought I was well set up for the summer ....

Over the weekend I noticed the car pulling to the left so I dropped it off at Krazy Horse to have the tracking checked . I don't have a picture but they discovered a crack near the bottom of the upright next to the engine , this has allowed the top tube that points forward (with the bolted on bracing bar) to bend .

With the brake pedal breaking last week this is two potentially life threatening failures in a week , to which can be added an earlier bent wishbone .....

I won't list all the more minor problems along with the imaginary bump steer issues in this post , but I am one seriously pissed off customer.

As I have said earlier I have paid a lot of money to do the development driving for Morgan , but I'm starting to wonder if I want to continue in this role .

OMG! Serious stuff - am glad it was picked up b4 anything worse happened.

Is it a new chassis or a weld up?

The M3W sure is a patience tester:(((

Do post up what happens - and I hope that u r soon back on the road.

This sounds like a direct phone call to malvern kind of situation. Yikes. Sorry to hear about the chassis. Keep us posted

Not good.

Sorry to hear you are still getting problems and this surely is the worst one to date. If anyone can help sort things out, it's Krazy Horse.

HJP, does your frame have the gusset in the top frame rail back to the cross brace behind the motor and then out to the other side?

I understand that this has been added on new frames as a welded part of the frame, but there may be a bolt in option, don't remember for sure.

Here is a frame without the new cross bracing installed.

Here is the same frame after the factory welded in the new cross brace.

This brace keeps the top two upper control arm frame rails from flexing inward while driving. I can see how this "could" cause a crack at the bottom of the vertical front frame tube, or on one of the upper control arm horizontal frame rails.

If you frame has the new cross brace or the add on modification, I cannot make a suggestion and would rely on Morgan and your dealer for an answer.

Thanks for posting those pictures Dan , mine is a fairly early car , Sept 12 , so doesn't have the latest welded in bracing , it does however have a bolt on brace behind the cylinders .

I wonder if there have been other failures like mine resulting in the new welded bracing ?

Krazy Horse are now packing up for the day and so far have had no response from Morgan ....they emailled pictures this morning . I presume it'll have to be returned to the factory . It wouldn't seem likely to be repairable as it's bent as well as cracked .

Do you have pictures you can share? I suppose any M3W owner would like to see them and check their own chassis in the same spots your own has cracked and where that made it also bend.

In any case, do you think the MkII chassis reinforcements we see above are adequate to prevent what happened to you to happen in current cars?
