I was a bit surprised to find out today that after my car left me stranded over the weekend the dealer says that usually Morgan doesn't pay for the towing to get the car to the workshop. This was a bit of a shock to me as the car is less than a year old with only 8,000km on it and it's the second time that it has had a failure serious enough that it was no longer drivable. I just assumed that in a case like this that where it is still under warranty that Morgan would pay for the tow.

What are other people's experiences with this?

Not really that surprising, I guess they expect you to have rac or AA cover, good luck getting it repaired under warranty, I hear that MMC are not the most obliging when it comes to repairs. I think you'd be wise to shout loud and long whilst it's back with them. Apparently that seems to work.

You need to have this on your insurance policy (and make sure you have recovery from home stipulated, just in case). The extra cost is minimal and its value evident as soon as you break down. I had an idea that taking out such a policy, like carrying an umbrella when it might not rain, would ensure good luck; well, it didn't.

What went wrong this time?

When mine was taken back on a flatbed I didn't have to pay. Morgan assist took care of it.

What happens in the case of most consumer goods? Either they get repaired at the customers address, or the customer has to return them to the shop or place of purchase, at the customers expense. Now if you return it to the retail outlet, then in my opinion [M'lud] it is they that you have the contract with, and who pays what to whom after that should not be your concern.

Just my twopence worth. innocent

In the UK don't they all come with a year's free Morgan rescue? Of course they ususally forgot to register this with Morgan Rescue and you only find out after you get rescued by them...

Surely you don't have to return a washing machine to the dealer under warranty.....they come out and repair it.

Yep, 12 months Morgan Rescue is included.

I would assume if you use another towing company then it's down to you to pay.

3 years ago, mine came with Morgan assist free for the first year - you need to query whether you should have had this.
Plus second time it has let you down is not right. I suggest contact local trading standards office to see where you stand.

I think a chat with either your dealer or someone at the factory would produce a better result..
