I have noticed that there is only the desired brable and bellowing exhaust note on the left side of the M3W. The right side only emits a dampened hiss and sputter ! This is at idle as well as under acceleration. Is this normal, or a problem ?

Sounds as though something may be wrong with either spark or fueling on one side. When you start it from cold does the right hand cylinder get hot as quickly as the left?

Get a mechanic to look at it as soon as possible.

Same here! Putt putt on the left, puff puff on the right. No idea why. Only notice it at idle, really.

If the fueling is the same (it may not be) the two cylinders will run at slightly different temperatures. In the past, engines have been made to have different compression ratios to try and even this out.

Stems from the fact if number 1 cylinder fires at 0 degrees, number 2 will fire at 360 + the angle of the V which means from that datum, the next firing of number 1 is 360 - the angle of the V. So if you like, number 1 is early, number 2 is late.

I'd not expect a big difference on the exhaust note, but the fact of some difference does not perturb me.

I had a noticeable difference in exhaust note suddenly & a difference side to side. Try a screwdriver to your ear & to each cylinder rocker cover. There was a difference here & it turned out to be a failed push rod. If there was no sudden change in note & cylinders sound similar it probably as others suggest & not to worry.

Thanks guys for your advice ! Either the engine management went into overheating protection mode, or the spark-plug connector was loose. Started it cold today morning and all is fine. Fingers crossed it stays that way

I've noticed that too but only at idle. Once the engine is up to speed is no problem. At times I have looked at V-twins in wonder that they even work at all...
