I think the original thread is valid; any prospective buyer is going to google the brand and is bound to end up on this site. There will always be a preponderance of negative threads. The cyclecar has some faults but there is a limited number of ways you can convey the sheer grin of driving it.
I took my 4/4 for a service last year and wasn't prepared for the sheer visceral reaction of seeing the three-wheeler. Yes, I had seen pictures but hadn't been tempted. I came away besotted and hoped that the Comptroller of the Household would veto the first shoots of acquisition. She didn't and we ordered one.
Since then reading the forum has filled me foreboding; so it will with other readers (and there are far more who read rather than post) who have yet to acquire a M3W.
However I decided to go ahead with taking delivery of a 2014 model. I hit 1000 miles yesterday and, yes, I am still waiting for one of the many transient insane noises to turn into something serious. The 5-speeder should be driven with a helmet, not primarily for safety, but because it deadens some of the worrying chirrups. It is, as alluded to on another thread, a much dirtier car than the 4/4 (which hasn't been replaced - it's a totally different drive).
But none of this matches the sheer pleasure you see in passer-by's faces: the two 12-year olds (full of questions) who sat on a fence watching a parked car, the parked-up traffic police who gave the thumbs up, the old lady who previously owner a 2-speeder and the multitude of waves and call-outs. I am used to the lack of envy the marque engenders; I have parked the 4/4 without fear in any surroundings without damage. But the 5-speeder takes this to new heights. The world can be a horrid place and it is nice to make strangers smile.
To Dan, don't stop posting: your posts are intelligent, technical and well informed. To anyone reading and contemplating the purchase: I am still listening with trepidation to every new noise (and there are a lot of them) wondering what each one augers.
But would I but the car again? A thousand times - yes.
But remember to kiss the ash!

Threads do not get deleted on TM unless they break the terms of use of the site and Dan's does not.
The only other reason for a thread to be removed would be in the rare cases where the originator of the thread has contacted one of the Admin team directly and asked for the topic to be deleted. These occasions are extremely rare and if the reasoning is sound, we will delete the thread. Again, Dan has not done so, nor do I believe there is good reason to delete it, so his topic remains.

I think WizziMog has encapsulated the main essence of Morgan ownership. They are smile generators. I constantly smile whilst driving ours, everyone smiles when they see it, little children, school children, truck drivers, customs officials, little old ladies, etc etc. We constantly get people waving, kids shouting things like "cool car!", truck drivers that toot in salute, and so on.
As has been said many times before, a Morgan is a work in progress. They build it and we perfect it to suit our own, often changing, requirements and taste. Can't imagine doing that with any other brand.
Sure the Morgan can be criticised but so can my mass produced daily drive. At 100,000 km I have replaced the aircon compressor, the wiper motor, the shocks, steering rack, and several other small bits. Parts of the car are made in easily broken plastic and now the clutch is on the way out. I will soon replace it but I would probably not buy another car by the same manufacturer. Would I buy another Morgan? You bet your ash!
