The reason the TPM were dropped was because MMC struggled to get them to work consistently. There was a reason why but I cannot recall exactly what it was. In essence, there were those who never had an issue and those who found them a pain in the backside - very few people fell into the middle camp. My first Aero had them and they worked perfectly; however, my second one never had them fitted and I've never missed them. The holes for the clock and the TPM were used to fit tweeters on the later Aeromaxs and subsequent Aero SS and Coupe.

I think it had to do with the relatively low tyre press of 24psi.This is outside the design spec range for the transmitter.

Ref your tyre monitor problem.I have a 2002 Series 1 with a TPM that would start bleeping until reset then reset again etc,etc. There is a solution: having removed many small Phillips screws to release the black plastic shroud for the underdash area(in order to fix an electrical problem) I came upon the SmarTire systems receiver, velcroed under the dash.It is a black box approx 2.75x3x.75 inches big and when you unplug the two mini jack plugs an the multipin socket all will go quiet, forever. The display on the centre consol just shows a rectangle with no flashing beeping anything.I have not solved the initial problem yet but I have fixed the Tyre monitor Regards Charles

I had mine turned off by the factory, to prevent the bleeping. My display has also become unreadable with time, its now covered by a leather swatch that matches the seats.

Also had mine turned off. One of the senders had disintegrated and was rattling around inside the tyre. Couldn't find a replacement anywhere so that was that! have not missed the noise or lack of info
