first of all I'm not a owner yet, the wife said i can oder in November. but was wondering if anyone has taken there catalytic converter off yet for more horsepower. and if so could you tell a difference. i know most people live where you can't take them off , but i live in the great state of South Carolina. where motorcycles don't have emission laws. most harley owners run straight pipes. for the sound and extra power.taking the converter off would be something i would look into if it had a benefit of extra power. i don't think i would run straight pipes. to loud for me.

Leave it in, it's so small anyway. Best to remove the front baffle as it is solid and blocks off the entire tube save from a few small perforations.
The sound is not much louder but is a more hard edged sound with the benefit of some slight popping back on the over run.
It takes about 30 minutes a side and we'll worth the effort.

My M3W is on Seabrook Island. There is a good dealer in Charlotte. Call or go see him.

I found the hp was just fine when driving so not really wanting a big hp gain but i do want all the hp the engine can make. and would want it a little louder, not much i don't want to be heard 10 miles down the road like some of those harley straight pipes.

Some of the owners might suggest the compensator/transmission cant take a lot more horsepower. There is a fundamental mismatch now.

The sound measures 98db at 1 meter from tail pipe running 2/3rds revs.
As per MSA blue book.

To remove baffles:

1. Remove tail pipe and clamp in vise, gently.
2. Using a 38mm hole cutter and a 1 meter 3/8 drive extension mounted in a cordless drill, remove baffle. This can take about 20 minutes as it is 1.5mm stainless. Keep the cutter lubed up.
3. Refit tail pipe fire her up and smile!
Note, I used 2 cutters one per side as they blunt quite quickly on the stainless.

I have sufficient horse power already to overtake my ability!

My straight through sport pipes and they need ear plugs and pills. Glad I put in dB killers.
