I brought my M3W in to the shop to get a new compensator, comfort kit & urban cooling kit installed. I had them also check my clutch as it had started to make a loud squeak when down shifting. The shop just let me know the clutch plate needs to be replaced as it showed signs of over heating. (they also said this was not the first time they have seen this issue on some the M3Ws)

After thinking about this for a bit I realized it must be that sometimes I am driving without my foot completely off the clutch pedal. I've got long legs and have a problem in finding a place to place my left foot, especially on long drives so I guess it rests sometimes on the clutch pedal. I have asked the shop to install steering wheel spacer so hopefully when I get my M3W back I will be able to find a better place for my left foot.

Anyone one else with a similar issue that can share some advice?

I have a 50mm spacer. Before fitting that, it was very difficult to drive and uncomfortable. With the spacer, it's not perfect, but greatly improved. I expect those into Yoga are the best equipped as 3 Wheeler drivers.

A little bluing from wear on the pressure plate and flywheel is normal, it just happens.

If they're true and not warped, I would just sand the faces a bit to remove the discoloration and wipe the residue off and do the same with the clutch disc and reinstall everything.

A lot of old Harley guys just took their steels and fiber clutch plate and rubbed them on a concrete floor to de-glaze them and put them back in.

Not seeing the parts, it's only my opinion to reuse them after de-glazing them, but just because they're blued does not necessarily mean they need to be replaced.

But about the foot, you can cause some slippage, but I'm sure you would notice it if you were over pushing on the resting clutch pedal. I would be more worried about the throwout bearing as it would be in constant contact in that case and they are not meant to be in use that much.

II'd shoot you a photo, by my shop (dealer) is 400 miles away. I guess I have to depend on their assessment.

I've got a 25mm spacer and it provides enough room that I can put my left foot on the floor. Without the spacer it was all very tight.

These spacers are all well and good, but how do you all get the seat back further away, to make the room for your clutch foot?

With a bit of contortion! I find I can rest my toes between the clutch and break

I have the pedals set as far forward as possible. Without the spacer my left leg was fouling the bottom of the steering wheel. The spacer gives enough clearance to lift my leg/foot off the clutch and put it on the floor.

Oh, yes, I understand now. It's not an issue I have with the 11" Motolita as there is plenty of room to get my knee up, with my foot flat on the floor. It is quite comfortable driving like this when no clutch work needs to be done.
