It was not specifically said, but from reading all the spacer references along with leg comfort, I'm guessing the spacer is not pedal related, but steering wheel related. Again I'm guessing that with the flat steering wheel it hits your thigh if it's too close to the dash and the spacer gives some wiggle room for the leg.

Without the steering spacer at 6ft 2in I could not get my foot fully off the clutch as my leg hit the wheel. With 1 inch spacer I can now rest my left foot slightly twisted between clutch & brake. Spacer was expensive for what it is but for me well worth it.

A dished steering wheel would also be an option of a person were changing their wheel at the same time.
I can see how the spacer would help in that case a lot.
I test drove a Pantera back in '76 and I believe it was an early '70s model. The Ford dealer only wanted $10k for it, but that was a ton of money in '76.
When I got into it my knees were on each side of the steering wheel and the gated 5 speed was terrible to work with. It was also raining and driving this thing was not much fun.

I just completed a 400 mile run after getting my clutch fixed and steering wheel spacer added. I am so happy that I now have enough room to get my foot off of the clutch and back on the floor pan!
Hopefully, I will have better luck down the road.

Hopefully, I will have better luck down the road. You probably will have better luck. Knowing is everything! I'm going to have to get a newer version of the gas/brake/clutch version in order to "fix" the problem. It is not possible to move my clutch assembly further up the track on a left hand drive car. There is one more set of bolts to capture it but the initial design does not allow it. I have been able to avoid the dire consequences of wearing out a clutch only through the self sacrifice of extreme leg cramps! No pretty.
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.
