Looks good - and a previous owner has fitted a Type 9 5-speed box... Just what my '76 could have done with... Mine too, but the dilemma is keeping it original.....

Well got it home after an eventful journey. About 100 miles in I lost the use of the clutch and pulled into a petrol station. called the AA and was helped by a very nice man (!) who diagnosed a pretty poor bodge to the clutch operating mechanism. There is no clutch cable but there was a rod which had been made up of a couple of bolts ground down and welded together which had snapped at the weld. Clever AA man improvised something similar with a length of threaded rod and that got me home safely. He advises getting someone to fit a clutch cable asap - any thoughts?! Apart from that the car went very well and I enjoyed the drive despite it taking a couple of hours longer than I'd planned!
