My New Morgan Roadster:

I managed to eventually complete my order for a new Morgan Roadster a few weeks ago. The big decision that been holding me up was deciding on the colour.
Too big a choice!

I was planning to have it in a dark, but bright, blue. However, I had difficulty in deciding which blue to go for, and then finding out what the specific colours were called. Looking at photos on the internet was so misleading as the photos had sometimes been adjusted before they were uploaded. Many pictures purporting to be the same colour looked so completely different from each other. So I decided I must see the different coloured paintwork in the flesh, and went to the recent open day at Allon White’s. This was interesting, as some colours looked superb in the bright sunlight (when it occasionally appeared!) but looked dark and almost black when the sun went in.

So, I did a complete u-turn, and went back to my very original colour choice of a red car, as my first Morgan bought in 1970 was in a deep red - see my avatar and pic below. (Don't laugh, that's what I looked like when I was 20 in the 70's shades).

I managed to see an Aero 8 in a red colour that really appealed to me, and in my opinion, it looked great in the direct sunlight and also in the shade, although the two appeared quite different. So I decided on this as the colour, which is called “metallic Garnet Red”.

I just hope that it looks as good on my new Roadster as it does on the Aero 8.

Aero 8 in the shade:

I have spent a small fortune on the extras, but I want this car to last me for many years. I've fairly recently retired, and can't afford to change my cars so regularly anymore.

The extras included:
• Stainless wire wheels
• Folding reclining sports seats
• Embroidered headrests
• Sun visors
• Elasticated door pockets
• Organ pedal
• Map light
• Clock
• Extra wing treads
• Mesh grille
• Blaupunkt radio cd including speakers etc
• Walnut dashboard
• Badge bar
• Photographic build record
• Metallic paint in Rover Garnet (as Aero 8)
• Red Mohair deluxe weather equipment including tonneau and sidescreen bag
• Red mohair spare wheel cover
• Red mohair hood frame cover
• Muirhead pale magnolia Leather with red piping
• Moto-lita riveted 14’’ steering wheel with polished boss and engraved horn centre – spokes to have 3 holes
• Chrome interior mirror
• Luggage rack with sidescreen storage
• Wire up the sidelights
• Steering cowl in matching leather
• Heated front seats
• Gearbox pocket
• Maroon carpets piped as upholstery
• Black wing beading
• Door handles as standard fit.
• Overriders as standard fit (not full width bumpers)
• 3-eared spinners all round
• Leather covered and padded sidescreen inners in matching mohair and leather
• As noisy an exhaust as possible

I have managed to get a build slot where production will start at the end of July, and will be ready for collection at the beginning of September.

I just can’t wait!! drive

Hi Rogmog, congrats on your new Roadster, I think the blue your after is Antrim Pearl blue..Some people have mistaken my car as black when in the shade. Heres a couple of pics

In the sunlight

In the bright evening

On a cloudy day, the car could almost appear black

Bl**dy fantastic!! you know it will look good and I bet you're grinning already. grin2

Great options list...BUT!...HEATED SEATS!!! what are you?...OLD? oldgit

Thought they were just for sensitive Aero8 drivers!! laugh2

S'pose they'll help to dry the seats out a bit quicker after those summer runs gloomy

When's it due?
