well I never had much noise from the BB but after all the discussion decided to change the oil. my oil was black but not the gooy stuff some have had.--there has to be an easier way to change oil than pull the seat back and plate behind. I used my quick- lift but can only get the front wheels so far up, enough to slide under, but still see no way to fill the BB without removing the seat back and panel. It's changed and I don't have to worry if there is black goo or nothing at all in there.

I have done a couple of hundred miles since the bevel gearbox oil change and it does seem to be a little quieter now. I used Morris's Lodexol XFS 80w/140 synthetic oil (about 400 ml) with 15ml of Liqui Moly MoS2 additive. I wouldn't say it purrs along now but it doesn't screech like it did.
