Mutley, that is a Mk2 Chopper that is about to under go a full restoration and custom paint to match the Morgan. Lightshere, The clutch is pretty on/off like most, but it's engagement and use is pretty straightforward. The peddle action though is not really one i would describe as inspiring confidence. I know it is hydraulic, but i would swear it is cable with a big spring as it seems to make noises like a spring binding up. I am going to look carefully at it as i wonder if the bushes where it pivots on the shaft might be worn. Drive train does shunt and make some agricultural clunks and bangs, but this was exactly the same as the other S1 car i drove. Also at low speed the ride is very crash and all manner of crashes emanate from the car as it rattles through poorly made towns, but at speed, anything over 55ish it all calms down and the car then feels taught, firm but it breaths with the road and all the ride improves. In short peddle faster and it is better

I haven't driven another S1 but your experience sounds familiar. Brian Millar the Aero expert, who serviced my car in February, tells me they are all the same. He also said the ZF box in the S2 helped a bit. I mentioned earlier about your hood cover looking good, it must have been a bespoke after sales item some years ago, never come across one before. Note in the attached image the hood down on my car is untidy, with a different look everytime it folds away.

You have one of the Pram style later hoods, mine is an early plinth type, but the later of these design with the rain gutters added. It folds much lower without a cover, but yes the cover is aftermarket with a zip bag on the top for an umbrella [img:center] [/img]

Congrats - you might be pushing it a bit with the plate spacing - if you get pulled by plod though, it is usually a warning first time.

They have been known to remove the plates ( for evidence!) and then you have to arrange recovery, as the vehicle is illegal to drive without plates! ps Enjoy your Aero. . lovely looking car.

Dificult not to like your Morgan !!! I also went to Classic LM and probably saw your steed there as I spoke to many owners including a large contingent from the French owners club.

Mark,
Please can you tell me the outer diameter of your aero fuel cap and whether it's a locking version. I am keen to get one for mine to replace the old hinging cap, but Simmonds, where yours came from has gone out of business.
Thanks Andrew
