Thanks for the link, Planenut as I thought I had read on this forum that they were straight gears...that's why I try to qualify my statements until I have looked first hand. I hope it is a few miles down the road before I get my first look...but it could be next week!

I stay bogged down in so many projects that it is hard for me to stay on top of all the details of each one like I should. I'm just trying to put out the hottest fires first. I suspect the Morgan will be heating up sooner rather than later.

Just the normal maintenance on 19 motorcycles is a daunting task much less making mods on each.



And then there's motorcycle "accessories" that I am dealing with at the same time....

I hope by the time anyone identifies my real problem, I'll be too old to care.

I'm bad about having two or more of things that I like or intrigue me...and this didn't just start. Nothing has changed in my way of thinking since I was a kid...and that is that I wanted my various toys...most of it motorcycles (and related tools, parts, shop, etc.) only now, my income has improved. So, you can label me as perpetually immature...and liking it. Motorcycles have always represented some sort of freedom to me and the "last wild frontier". I got my first trail bike when I was 12 and haven't been without a motorcycle since.

I had a dream when I was 16 about strapping my gear on the back of my '67 Bonneville (which wasn't new when I got it with a seized up top-end and I still have it) and rambling around the country-side and camping along the way. Although I've done plenty of MC travel, that is still a re-occurring dream for me. And I can still hardly sleep the night before I leave on a trip. Airstreams, also, represent a different kind of freedom...and I still tent camp and camp out of a motorcycle towed pop-up camper. All different forms...

And my second favorite hobby in working on, improving and modifying motorcycles and such. So, I get double enjoyment out of them. I've got my shop setup where I can work comfortably year round...and residing in the living quarters of the shop, I can easily work on stuff at the strangest hours.

Being a gearhead was sort of my education for my line of work and business so wrenching on my toys is kind of a "continuing education program". Unless I have a warranty issue with a bike, it never goes back to the shop.

With all that being said, I think I have met my match with the M3W. Not in my wildest imagination can I see me having two of these puppies at the same time as I'm still torqued up about the situation with the first one. I don't worry too much about anything but if I had two M3Ws, I'd be on anxiety and blood-pressure medication shortly thereafter. It's how fun I know it could be that's pushing me on with that one. And never under-estimate the power of fun. The prospect of fun has had me wrenching on something and pulling money out of my wallet for over 40 years with no signs of letting up.

Admittedly, having some pretty cool & interesting people here takes some of the sting out life with a M3W.

I grew up on this Triumph...it knows dirt on me that no one else knows and how many ex-girlfriends rode on it. It's been 5 different colors and restored 6-7 times over the years. It got a good workout in its day and it'll crank and go right now. It saw me with long hair, short hair and now, balding hair. It is the bike I value the most out of my fleet. I have 7 Brit bikes now with 5 of them being vintage. I've always been extremely fond of Brit bikes and that may explain why the M3W has been a bit of a jagged pill for me.

Reminds me of when my late brother and I would go to Sturgis about 30 yrs back. A bed roll, tarp, $100 in your pocket, and off we went. Sleep with the bike on the side of the road, come back with $50 still in your pocket and a couple new t-shirts. Now when I get out of bed it sounds like I'm walking on bubble wrap ...

Yep, must have been all those nights sleeping on cold hard ground in your youth!

Indeed Paul ... went camping for a year with the Army in SE Asia, jumped out of perfectly good airplanes, as well. Was always able to 'walk it off'...

Not growing old gracefully, fighting tooth and nail the whole way down ...

Good grief, I haven't done any of that stuff, but I'm full of aches and pains too. Probably in for a new hip in the autumn, but that won't help the arthritis in my feet, knees and lower spine. But like you, fighting it the whole way, and not giving in easily. Ibuprofen is your friend though.
