Fine open roads: surely not the stomping ground for the 3W. It's the bendy bits that are the most fun IMHO. For me anything above 80 is a bit academic. I have done well over the ton and it was, well, interesting.!!!! However I may be very wrong about anything as today I've just bought a 2007 350 Enfield bullet in trials trim. OMG what have I done?

I think the M3W gearing is ok for most uk roads - sltho u have to work the gearbox this is fun! However when I went up Prescott on the fun run it was clear that the gearing was way too high - just for this Hill that is - its a tight track - and so coming out of Pardon hairpin was tricky as was The Left hander out of the Essess!  I have been to Prescott only once and did three timed runs in a Golf GTI, but that was about 25 years ago. I can remember the bends quite well but not so much the lengths of the straights. But what if you had higher gearing, so that you could hit peak revs in second just before Pardon and take that in first? The M3W's gearing, judging from videos, is all wrong in that area of the hill. I have been thinking about gearing for a while because, while I think the M3W's ratios are OK for the road, a larger manufacturer with resources and bullying power would certainly arrange to be able to hit more than 60mph in second gear. As we all know, 0-60mph times are pretty meaningless in the real world, but they are good for publicity. I think that without having to change up twice, it would be possible to get the M3W's 0-60mph time down to about 6.0sec or thereabouts.

I was refering to the open roads for using 5th gear. Yes there are plenty of twisty roads, a lot of them narrow with passing places where you will have to use the gears.
I've never exceeded 80 mph, I dont fancy it at 115.

I've just been for a spin, and deliberately checked my speedo reading at 3000 rpm in 5th, which was 65, so take off a bit for good luck and it appears that 5th gear can be used on fast country roads, quite legally. [60 mph is the national speed limit in Britain, except on motorways and dual carriageways]

Fifth gear is a rarity for me on anything other than motorways (Which are not much fun in a M3W).
2022 Plus Four, 2023 Super Three, Range Rover Vogue SDV8 and Triking T3.

Maybe mine is lower geared...I seem to find I use fifth quite a lot.
