My name's Moley and I'm a canalcoholic.
That's to say that I like a drink, I'm a keen home wine maker and craft brewer, and I like narrowboats and the British inland waterways.
I guess I have always been slightly odd, do Morgan owners follow any particular pattern? Even as a schoolboy, while my friends had wet dreams about Italian supercars, I always liked classic English sports cars.
Having finished school and further education, I regularly used to pass Mike Duncan's small showroom when he was in Colley Gate. Some time later, having found a job but still living with parents, I called in and paid a booking deposit. I was quoted a 7 year wait, and figured that by then I would have saved quite enough.
Then (as I understand it) they stopped making the 4/4 for a while due to trying to sort out engine changes.
By the time my name came up 13 years later, I was married and my savings had been converted into bricks and mortar, but a way was still found.
I also had a very young son by then, and must have agonised for at least 10 seconds whether to change my order for a 4-seater. I didn't.
In June 1994 I collected my car from the factory. Since then it has rarely been used and had resided in my late father's garage, as I haven't got one.
20 years on, that little boy is now away at University, our daughter should be doing the same this September, and my wife and I will be free again.
As I also lost my mother at the end of last year and the house (and garage) is now up for sale, I am forced to build or rent a new home for the Mog, and I am finally managing to use the thing!
I suspect it still has the original factory-fitted Malvern water in the washer bottle.
Glad to have found you.

Welcome Moley to the Morgan therapy group. We're here to help you with your addiction!
Sorry to hear about your loss but glad you are now able to get the Mog back out and about.
Your purpose now is to build/find somewhere to store your Morgan not to dispose of it.

Hi Moley
I loved your story.
There is just one sentence that is causing me a problem. I think you will be one of the luckiest couples in England if you end up 'free' after managing to offload the offspring, as for when you retire just forget it !!!!!!!!!

The solution is as soon as the last one moves out is to downsize and buy a 1 bedroomed property on;y. No way can they move back home then!

Sox: Well at least we can be free for 3 x 10-12 week periods at a time, although I do realise we will never finish paying for them.
Roger: I like the way you think, but moving home is not an option, I like where we live, we really have far too much junk around us, and any home would have to have a proper cellar for all my wine and beer.
Disposing of the Mog is also not an option, I really am enjoying it at the moment. Even just taking it to w**k, my journey includes some clear 'A' road then a blast around country lanes, a hill climb to a sharp right-hander (5th to 4th to 2nd and kick the back end round) then an undulating down hill straight which makes me want to scream "yee-ha". Then all the while I'm at w**k I'm really looking forward to the drive home.
Actually, that last bit still applies if I'm driving my people carrier.
And I'm not talking about self-pleasurement, it's that activity which most of us are forced to endure on weekdays.

A slight amendement to what I said. The perfect home is one bedroomed with a 6 berth garage as well as the wine cellar! Glad that disposal isn't on the list.
